Week Two Projections. 5-3 record predicting.
1-0 The Saad Father Part II @ 1-0 Stone Mason
Kevin starts the week off with a slight skater advantage and a garaunteed goalie win as his Toronto/Chicago goalies faceoff. Has a recipe for a high scoring game so I'm not sure how much of a lead he will get if any. These two teams played well in week one and should be set up for well over 100 points. Kevin has four Hawks games and Ross has 3 Bobs games which should even out- Excited to see Columbus play when Joonas isn't in net. I'm giving the nod to The Saad Father Part II as his skater seem to be stronger. Led by Patrick Kane, Kevin had 4 skaters out score Ross's top forward last week, Bryan Rust 9.5. Stone Mason is going to need more offensive production to keep up.
1-0 Maythe Schwartz Be With You @ 1-0 McFleury
Ray gets another game tonight from Ovechkin. I assume Ovi's 16 fantasy pt average per game will run out soon, but even if Ovi does keep getting hat tricks- Maythe Schwartz Be With You should have an easy matchup. After scoring the league's hottest round by a long shot, Austin kicks off week two with 2 potential goalie wins with Jake Allen @ Isles an Cory Schneider @ Buffalo. With best buddies Crosby and Voracek leading the offensive charge I don't see this team slowing down. Also, Vegas and Fleury can't stay hot much longer which will bring McFleury down. If Austin doesn't set his lineup there may be a chance as I see he is about to bench some starters today.
1-0 Philadelphia Ghost-Bears @ 0-1 DiPietro in the Toilet
Last week Michael won the first day of the week then held on for dear life. Different story this week as Calista should certainly jump out to a lead with a 9-3 skater advantage. This matchup will have an instant massive game as Connor Hellebuyk (Calista) faces Cam Talbot (Michael) tonight. Neither goalie looked strong this season. If I were a WPG fan I'd call their 'back up' Connor Hell-we-f'd. Michael has a slight advantage Tuesday, but again... Wednesday Calista with a 11-3 skater advantage. Pretty even rest of the week and Calista should have a lead into the full card Saturday. With 3 Isles and Greiss playing Sunday, the potential for a big Sunday is there. I'm calling an upset and DiPietro in the Toilet to win.
1-0 The Brady Skjei Bunch @ 0-1 Jagr Bomb
I believe Boston will fuel the fire for Chris most of the season offensively as they 20.5 pts in their lone week one game. Boston plays four times this week and Pastrnak/McAvoy/Krejci should all be good for quality points. Lundqvist finally decided to stop pucks in his third outing and Darling in Smith don't look too bad in their new homes, esp Smith. I get a little satisfaction out of Boston leading Chris as he hates that team, as does all non Boston fans. Very easy team to not like. Speaking of Boston, who will be a big team in this matchup, Ryan has Tuuka Rask to clean up any wins they have this week as well as John Gibson who has 4 games this week with the depleted Ducks. Ryan will need his leaders to step it up as Jamie Benn and Jeff Carter combined for 4.5 pts through 4 games. If they don't step up it'll be ugly. Taking The Brady Skjei Bunch.
1-0 Remy Boyz @ 0-1 Dat syuk It
Mitch rode his Quick/Howard tandem for 4 wins last week in a losing effort that would have beaten all teams but two, including his opponent. Always a crappy feeling to get 3rd in the league and take the L. His skaters were hot led by Kuznetsov who assisted on 7 Ovechkin goals, they must have some agreement this year. Mitch should win the goalie matchup again as Reece's only starts will be with Matt Murray. Both of these teams have stars debuting at some time this week with Reece getting Ryan Getzlaf and Mitch getting Patrice Bergeron. This should be a tight battle. I'm going with Remy Boyz. Penguins looked good their last time out and I think Murray is due for a strong stint. Howard and the Wings are due for some losses. And 4 games for Nathan Mackinnon and Brandon Saad should give Reece the skater advantage, plus a little Finn Patrik Laine chomping at the bit.
0-1 Thanks Obama @ 1-0 Sunnyvale Samsquances
Dave will only get two games from Price and his Habs, but that shouldn't be a big deal as they haven't produced yet anyway. Todd starts off with a Braden Holtby start and the Capitals have looked like the strong team they always are during the regular season. Initially I assumed Panarin/Atkinson would lead Todd offensively this year, but Steven Stamkos is looking very strong once again. It wasn't long ago that he was ranked #1 in fantasy. If he stays healthy I believe Stamkos can go blow for blow with anyone in the fantasy world. His strongest area is in net though as he drafted Holtby and Elliott early. Flyers only play twice which could result in only 1 Elliott start this week. I'm looking at Dave's forwards to predict someone to finally step up and help out Mika Zibanejad. Drouin, Radulov, Guentzal, Coyle... Eh. Gonna go with Sunnyvale Samsquances although as a Wild fan I'd like to see Coyle start producing for Dave.
0-1 Seguin Genesis @ 0-1 Wild Sucks Bad
Will touch on the trade in the next recap, but after Jordan Eberle's matinee today he is packing his bags for DiPietro in the Toilet as Seguin Genesis welcomes Jake Muzzin in the season's first trade. Jake only has two McDavid games this week. I'ma smash this matchup. With Martin Jones as his only goaltender I think this week I put up good goalie numbers for once. Ben Bishop and Antti Raanta looked strong in their debuts, it's a crime I have no wins yet. Lehner is due as well. I was banking on Sabres...you know, not sucking again. Seguin Genesis for the win though Jake's team name is ringing true so far, annoyingly.
0-1 Eakin Disorder @ 0-1 Turris Trap
I very much like Jon's top 4 skaters in Malkin, Pacioretty, Gaudreau, and Toews. Josh has a better top four in Marchand, Kucherov, Wheeler, Hall, and the Huberdeau/Trocheck combo. These two teams could have some fireworks with their skaters. Jon has a great top pair in Brent Burns, who has been ass so far, and Drew Doughty. And Josh has Dustin Byfuglien. These may be the worst goalie teams though as Jon only has Roberto Luongo playing in retirement mode so far and the Colorado tandem and Cam Ward for Josh. I like Eakin Disorder in this matchup.
Keeping this preview brief. Week 2 recap will be meaty agian. Would love to hear some feedback one any changes or improvements you'd like to see.
